Health Centers of Baltimore (FHCB) announces the
appointment of Dr. Walter Eugene Egerton, III, as its
new Chief Medical Officer (CMO.) Dr. Egerton began his
tenure as CMO on Monday, March 5, 2007. Dr. Egerton
received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Egerton
is a Board Certified pediatrician with subspecialty
training in adolescent medicine Among his many
professional achievements, Dr. Egerton has served as
Medical Director for the Quality Improvement
Organization at Delmarva Foundation of the District of
Columbia (DFDC,) where he provided clinical oversight
for quality improvement activities and interventions in
hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, and
physician’s offices that treat Medicare patients in the
District. Dr. Egerton has worked as Program Manager and
Clinical Consultant at the US Army Center for Health
Promotion and Preventive Medicine, Aberdeen Proving
Ground, Maryland, where he also acted as Chief Executive
Officer. He was the CMO at the Keller Army Community
Hospital, United States Military Academy at West Point,
New York. Further, he has served as Medical Officer,
Medical Director, Assistant Department Chief,
Pediatrics, and Consultant in Adolescent Medicine. His
professional affiliations include Fellow, American
Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Adolescent Medicine,
American Academy of Pediatrics, North Carolina Medical
Society, Life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Alpha
Chi Sigma Professional Fraternity, American Medical
Association, and National Medical Association. Dr.
Egerton has prepared an array of publications and
research projects, and has received several awards and
decorations, including Order of Military Medical Merit,
Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Metal, National
Defense Service Ribbon, and Commendation Medals, all
from the United States Army.
Dr. Egerton will
have offices at both Calvert Street and Cherry Hill. He
will spearhead JCAHO accreditation and provide
leadership to Medical Directors and Providers in our
efforts to improve service delivery and clinical
operations.
Dr, Egerton was
born in North Carolina, is married to Dr. Deborah
Threadgill Egerton, and has three children, Jason,
Tiffany, and Blake.
